Spring IS, umm, Here?!!
It is habitual that at the turn of a season we announce with great pleasure the arrival of a new climate, changes from mother nature and the imminent arrival of new collections from our brand partners. Well, 3 days into Meteorological Spring 2018 it’s not quite there.
3 days this week both shops closed due to impassable roads to both Hadleigh and Melford and temperatures below freezing. The Beast from the East (as we have been told is to blame) has really dealt the UK a bitter hand. Did anyone else receive a deluge of marketing emails from various brands as they slammed on the brakes of their Spring campaigns and reverted to promotions we last saw before Christmas!!
The good news is it looks like we are through it and the thawing (and flooding) can begin. Perhaps in the next weeks we shall start to see the daffodils and bluebells emerge and then we know we are back on track. (you never know Brexit may start to take shape and the whole country can start to look forward once again!)
At Hall Street, tactically we have held back on receiving Spring Summer stock, preferring to keep things more relevant instore! We have of course received our new Tommy Hilfiger stock into Hadleigh which we are really excited about - especially given their new partnership with the Merceded Benz F1 team and World Champion Lewis Hamilton for 2018.
As of now and for the next 3-4 weeks we shall receive our new Gant, Hackett and Eden Park collections AS WELL as Chatham footwear and our first ever LOAKE collections. Our relationship with Olymp shirts continues to grow and lastly, but by no means least my personal favourite is that we will be stocking Fynch Hatton later in the spring. If you’re not familiar with this great German brand, make sure you come to see it.
Lastly, I wanted to say a big thank you to the 3 great ladies who help support me to run this business. Trina, who many of you will know and has been with us sometime at Melford and we could not be without!! AND, 1 month in now Sara and Carey who quite frankly have so much energy they have exhausted me these past 4 weeks but without doubt will make this year a fantastic year at Hall Street - it’s great having all 3 of you on board. Thank YOU.
Keep in touch and watch this space for images and more news of the collections as they arrive!!.
Meteorological season Meteorological spring will begin on 01 March 2018 and ends on 31 May 2018.
The meteorological seasons consists of splitting the seasons into four periods made up of three months each. These seasons are split to coincide with our Gregorian calendar making it easier for meteorological observing and forecasting to compare seasonal and monthly statistics. By the meteorological calendar, spring starts on 1 March.
The seasons are defined as spring (March, April, May), summer (June, July, August), autumn (September, October, November) and winter (December, January, February).
